Zoho CRM Guide: Free Plan, Editions and How to Start

Zoho CRM Guide: Free Plan, Editions and How to Start

Quick answer: Zoho CRM is an app for tracking leads, customers and sales deals in one place. Zoho says it’s free forever for 3 users. Paid editions are Standard, Professional, Enterprise and Ultimate. If you only need a simple sales pipeline, look at Bigin, Zoho’s lighter CRM, too.

What is Zoho CRM used for?

CRM means customer relationship management. A CRM replaces scattered spreadsheets and notes with one shared record of each customer.

  • Saving leads and customer details
  • Following each deal from first contact to sale
  • Setting reminders and follow-up tasks
  • Seeing sales reports
  • Automating repeated work with workflows

Is Zoho CRM free?

Yes, for up to 3 users. Zoho’s pricing page describes the Free Edition as covering leads, deals, workflows, reports and a mobile app.

Before you rely on it: reviewers warn that the free plan is best for very small teams. If you add a fourth user, you’ll need to move to a paid plan. Check the current limits on Zoho’s page.

How much does Zoho CRM cost?

Zoho prices each paid edition per user, per month. The amount depends on your country, so we don’t quote one price. Here’s what Zoho’s Zoho CRM pricing page said when we checked:

  • Yearly billing saves money. Zoho says paying yearly saves up to 34% compared with monthly.
  • Tax is extra. Local taxes such as VAT or GST are added to the listed prices.
  • No contract. Zoho calls it pay-as-you-go, monthly or yearly, and you can change plans when you need to.
  • Payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express and PayPal, plus bank transfer or cheque for yearly plans.

To see your own price, use the price estimate tool on Zoho’s pricing page. It shows the amount for your country and number of users.

How to change your Zoho CRM plan

  1. Sign in to Zoho CRM.
  2. Click the Upgrade link on the Home page.
  3. Follow the steps on the Subscription page to pick a new edition or change the number of users.

How to start with Zoho CRM

  1. Write down how you sell today, from first contact to payment.
  2. Sign up on Zoho’s website.
  3. Import a small, clean list of contacts first.
  4. Set your deal stages to match your real process.
  5. Add one simple reminder or workflow.
  6. Train your team, then add more.

Don’t try to set up everything on day one. A simple CRM that people use beats a complex one they avoid.

Zoho CRM support, setup help and languages

  • Demo: Zoho offers a one-hour demo over a web call. Its pricing page says to ask sales@zohocorp.com.
  • Setup services: Zoho runs onboarding programmes for small and large businesses, and you can also use a Zoho partner.

Is Zoho CRM right for you? A quick checklist

  • You have customers or leads tracked in spreadsheets or notes.
  • You want reminders so no follow-up is forgotten.
  • You’re willing to spend a few hours setting up fields and stages.
  • You may use other Zoho apps later, such as Mail, Desk or Books.

If most of these fit, start with the free edition. If you only need a simple pipeline, try Bigin first.
